Push rivet size chart: the three numbers that matter
Every push rivet (also called a plastic rivet, push pin or fender clip) is sized by three measurements. Check all three before you order.

Quick size check (no calculator needed)
- Hole measures 8mm (5/16") and your panels add up to roughly 2–6mm: the 8mm rivet fits.
- Hole is bigger or smaller than 8mm: you need a different rivet size; an 8mm rivet will either spin loose or not go in.
- Panel stack is thicker than about 6mm (for example two thick panels on a bracket): check the legs can open behind the last layer before you buy in bulk. See push rivet length and grip range.

Push rivet size FAQ
What size push rivet do I need? Match the hole, not the old rivet: removal and age deform the legs. An 8mm (5/16") hole takes an 8mm rivet.
Is 5/16" the same as 8mm? 5/16" is 7.94mm, so 8mm rivets fit 5/16" holes.
Can I reuse the old rivets? No. Removal deforms the legs, so fit a new rivet each time.
